EMPLOYED!

Oh it feels so good. Lockheed Martin finally called to let me know they had a job offer for me! Robert and I are so excited and thankful for how the Lord has provided for us. He is awesome.

On another note, Robert quit his job today. But I don't know if I would even call it quitting because they never officially hired him. Just had him come in random mornings and work the leaf blower for a couple hours. And let me remind you that this place was a coffee/wine bar. And my husband would come home smelling like gasoline because apparently baristas are supposed to leaf blow. Oh well. His boss took it really well and was really nice about it, which was all we cared about.

Tomorrow we are off to Estes Park to camp! We have all our gear ready to go!

Our porch also got a little makeover today... which was much needed.

We got shelves for our storage closet. Perfect.

And hung up our green flower pots! I love them and cannot wait to put flowers in them. (Thanks Erin!)

We set up our grill and bought a $17 table so that we can actually eat on our porch without having to put everything on the floor.

I will post pictures from our camping trip when we get back! Love and miss y'all.

I have set my rainbow in the clouds...

We saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen two days ago. We were reading at Starbucks when all of a sudden all the customers and employees started running outside. I followed while Robert stayed behind to read his coffee books. Here is what I saw.

I mean the rainbow was so big I couldn't even get a picture of the whole thing. So obviously I ran back inside and told Robert he had to go outside... he thanked me later :).

The cool thing was that the rainbow hung around for like thirty minutes.

Here it is pulling into our apartment complex.

And here is the view from our balcony. I really just couldn't get enough of it.

"And God said, 'This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.'"
-Genesis 9:12-13

What a merciful and honest God we have! Love you all!

PS- Robert and I are starting to make friends! YAY! We got two other married couples' phone numbers who want to hang out! WHOOP!

West's Bleed Purple

Ok so not really. But we did go to our first Rockies game last night! And it was totally awesome. I mean the Rockies lost, but there were lots of runs and hotdogs and nachos and bratwurst and funnel cake and beer. Oops. Did I mention neither one of us has incomes? Oh well, these are the days and we are loving every minute!

Our first experience on the light rail. We were super excited. Keep in mind- this is on the way to the game. The way home was a completely different story. We were packed like sardines- and poor Robert was felt up by an intoxicated passenger. I was also instructed by the man of the house to mention in here that the only reason we got on the light rail on the way home was because of Robert. I was angry because he was making us walk so fast to the light rail. I told him to relax. He told me that you never knew, passing one person just might make the cut to get us on the first light rail. I rolled my eyes and kept walking. In the end, he was right. He made the first cute by like two people. I later had to apologize for the bad attitude :)

The stadium was awesome! And such a good game... Note: Robert may or may not have chest bumped a complete stranger. Who later told him that he loved him. And that he couldn't wear his glasses until the Rockies won. We weren't too sure what he meant by that one, but we got a good laugh out of it.

We love Rockies games.

Shelves!

We have shelves! This is a very big deal- no more white boring walls!

Notice our awesome drill- Thanks Padna!

The finished product! They look uneven in the picture... but they aren't. Trust me.

Rockies game tonight! Can't wait!

Yum

Today was awesome because we weren't on house arrest. Our TV and Internet arrived so no more waiting around for packages. Except for tomorrow when our new and working washing machine will arrive! Have I mentioned that I haven't done laundry since we've been here? There are more than a few clothes piling up throughout the apartment... For the first time in my life I cannot wait to do laundry!

Here is what we had for dinner tonight...

Artichoke and bean bruschetta with prosciutto and tomatoes filled with gorgonzola and bread crumbs... so good

And of course a good glass of red wine :)

PS:
Now I understand why my mom had me register for a million silverware sets/place settings. Robert accidentally let this one slip down into the disposal...

Home Sweet Home

Well to be honest today has been a little bit dull. We are getting Internet today, and our Internet company told us we had to be home from 8-4:30 so that we could be sure to receive our modem. BUT instead of being lazy Robert and I have been really productive! We have worked on resumes and applied to jobs, so in the long run probably a good thing we are under temporary house arrest.

On another note... here are some updated pictures of our apartment! Please forgive the bare walls, but we did not realize that power tools would be required to hang up some of our house decorations!

Our view!

It really is starting to feel like home. But I think we both got our first case of homesickness yesterday on Father's Day. It was hard being without our families but we are excited to see everyone soon! (hint hint)

Love and miss y'all... be praying for us as we continue to search for jobs and a church!

Welcome to Westhood!

Robert and I have finally made it to Denver. It has been that we have been looking forward to for forever. So to think that we have actually been here for over a week now is pretty insane. And so here comes our blog (but let's be honest. I (Alex) will most likely be doing most of the blogging. But what's mine is his remember?) We really want to keep in touch and let everyone know what is going on in our lives!

So here we go...

We are loving Denver. Here is what we did today:

Not bad at all. Did I mention this is about 10 minutes from our house? It's not even fair.

We also bought an AWESOME dresser when we went garage sale hunting. It was a total steal. And the man of the house negotiated the price for us! He's the best. We will be posting apartment pictures later so you can see... once everything is clean :)

miss and love y'all.
